The Wallace Monument. This was a huge moment of my trip. So many different aspects of my life seemed to lead right to this moment. I had taken a bus from Edinburgh to Stirling and now to this very spot. I hiked up the hill to the monument, it looking more and more grand the closer I got. Braveheart. Not just a label, but a reminder. It’s okay to be afraid. But you go forward anyway. Going forward led me here, led me up the 246 steps of the Wallace monument to see the breathtaking view at the top. I stood there alone, and I stood there tall (well, as tall as my 5’4″ 1/2 height will allow). I am the first person to admit my shortcomings, but I do life at my own pace and that pace brought me here and I felt proud. Words don’t do it justice, and the pictures don’t either, but I hope you enjoy them anyway.
